Hi Dave - I was trying to find your "Rhizomatic education: Community as curriculum" (2008) for quoting purposes, and came back to this page. Have found it now at Innovate.

Just to say I love that you are "cormier" (than a rhizome, one assumes). (A nice aptonym)

Cheers

Hi Dave

I'm a student, teacher, blogger from Australia and I have recently written a university paper on EdTechTalk.

My experience with the community has been great. I've taken away some really useful ideas and will continue to lurk around the community for my own professional development. I've also provided some constructive feedback and ideas.

It is published on my uni blog and I'll give you the link if you like. Just would prefer to get an idea from you before I link to it anywhere or post it on EdTechTalk. Not sure if you'll think it helpful. Hopefully you will.

Thanks

Great post Dave. I think the analogy you build with Bishop's Weed will inspire many more "a-ha" moments in your readers and in anyone you bring these ideas to. The parallels to knowledge and nature and outstanding as you have come to discover.

If you haven't already seen this, the Starfish and Spider is worth a read. One of the key ideas in the book is that the more centralized a thing becomes, the more likely it will survive. For instance ... Napster (too centralized), Kazaa (better, but advertising was still centralized), eDonkey - better yet). This is what I wonder about say edtechtalk or even my course. There is still something central driving it, both structures AND people. And I suppose your central question that drives you may be something like, how do we get to a place where we are really and truly decentralized, and will this make the difference?
