Figure out what the important things are, and focus on them. Know about the AI stuff, and know that it’s going to change things, and we don’t understand any of that yet. Acknowledge that AI will have different effects on different disciplines and institutions, and that’s okay. Take care of people, and foster your relationships with them. Given the choice between teaching stuff to remember and skills/strategies/approaches to complex problems, skip the remembering stuff whenever you can. Remember that grades aren’t the only way to motivate students. Be skeptical of the machine, and leverage it when you can do so in reliable and ethical ways. Come to terms with the fact that nobody has all of the answers, including you.
